• At Counterforce System we empower domestic violence and abuse survivors (men and woman) through counter force systems training. This involves a range of martial arts, confidence building, self-defence, poetry sessions, personal training - these are all delivered to provide a starting point for healing, and being able to fight back through safety and compassion.
  • We currently have a waiting list of survivors which we would like to support; this has come through publicity and word of mouth in the community.
  • Sessions are delivered by Carl Fitzpatrick, Carl is an experienced martial arts instructor and started Counterforce to help survivors of domestic violence and abuse. Carl will also have important time to further develop Counterforce.
  • We work in partnership with other community organisations to deliver support sessions, these currently include partnerships with Pontypridd woman's aid, Unison, and The Arts factory (Ferndale).
  • Counterforce provides a central location for local people to train, socialise and support each other.
  • It works with survivors of domestic abuse to provide a safe space, to build confidence, and complete regular training.
  • Counterforce works with other organisations in partnership to deliver confidence, education and self-defence training.
  • Counterforce is based in the Hopkinstown area and has transformed a disused building into a community hub. We deliver a range of activities including self-defence and martial arts, poetry classes, personal training classes, and opportunities for people to meet and support each other.
  • Counterforce works mainly with people who have experienced domestic abuse. We work to lift people up, to provide confidence, to give people new skills, build new friendships and be part of a community, a family of support.
